For the Museum of Natural History of the University of Crete, TETRAGON designed and implemented in phases a complete overhaul of the museological and museographical design.
The Museum is housed in the renovated building of the former electrical power plant of PPE on the sea front of the city of Heraklion. The exhibition sections of the multistory building are formed by a group of exhibition means, articulating environments and living micro-environments, dioramas with taxidermy animals and birds, audiovisual productions and interactive applications, mechanical exhibits and simulations of the natural environment, virtual and enhanced reality applications, in collaboration with the scientists and collaborators of the university and the museum.
For the wider public and students, the museum contents and the museopaedagogical programs are a valuable contribution to knowledge and at the same time raising awareness on matters of natural evolution and climate change. The rich collections of all the flora and fauna species of Crete and Eastern Mediterranean constitute valuable material for documentation and scientific research, which the museum develops and showcases for its visitors.
