The exhibition at the Information Centre for the History and Maritime Tradition of Moudros was designed in order to highlight the strategic importance of Moudros Bay during two important periods of the national and global history.
It is a modern exhibition space in the renovated building of the former Elementary School of Moudros that walks the visitor through its innovative museological concept. Moudros’s contribution to the naval liberation struggle of the Aegean islands, but also to World War I, is depicted through rich educational material, old photographs, historical documents, objects of the V. Nikoltsios Collection, video screenings, interactive applications and dioramas. The exhibition’s sections present in a comprehensive and interactive way, through rare photographic material, representations and dioramas, the phases and historical events of the maritime history of Moudros.
The research and documentation of the material has been carried out on many levels, including important museums and archives both greek and foreign, to finally give life to the experiential space of the Information Centre. This infrastructure gives the opportunity for the island of Lemnos to promote its recent historical past, focusing on cultural and historical tourism.
