TETRAGON, under the supervision of the Ephorate of Byzantine Antiquities of Komotini, realised the final implementation plans according to the museographic design of architect Antonis Manioudakis for the Ministry of Culture, designed the interiors of the showcases and finalised them, exhibition structures, lighting and the storage equipment of the Byzantine Museum of Didymoteicho. It also edited the visual materials and captions, contributing to an aesthetically and technically impeccable result.
The use of glass surfaces of various colours combined with the white marble and the lighting design, gives to the space a modern aesthetic integrity that respects and showcases the valuable exhibits and makes it more attractive to the public.
Audiovisual multimedia and interactive applications are widely used in the museum, with the centrepiece being the backlit, floor map of the Byzantine Via Egnatia in Thrace, that combined with two touch screens gives a wealth of information to the visitor.
