TRAVELING EXHIBITION “BIOMUSE – FROM BONE FRAGMENTS TO HUMAN STORIES”

Ten people of the past, from the Mesolithic to the Byzantine period. Ten fascinating stories. The temporary exhibition “BioMuse | From bone fragments to human stories” narrates a number of individual biographies that resulted from the study of the skeletal remains of humans who lived in Greece over the last 11,000 years.

With the use of cutting-edge technologies, the exhibition showcases valuable biological and cultural heritage data, through the reconstruction of the daily life, diet, and genetic history of actual individuals who lived in antiquity. It features exhibition panels that display the biographies, an interactive application that provides information on the biographies and the research itself in an augmented reality environment, and an audiovisual production.
The exhibition “BioMuse | From bone fragments to human stories” was implemented subsequent to the research programme BioΜuse, which is the outcome of the synergy between Greek and German institutions. It was organised by TETRAGON SA and the Laboratory of Physical Anthropology of the Democritus University of Thrace, in collaboration with the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki.
